BLOOD MOON

Performance Dates:

3rd August at 2pm & 7pm
Staged at John Lees Centre, Level 1, 5 Evan Street, Penrith.

SYNOPSIS:

The year is 1885. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are chatting in the parlor 
at 221B Baker Street when a strangely attired group of individuals enter, pleading for help. 
They say they’re from a traveling bazaar of magic and someone has kidnapped their 
impresario, Madame Vera. Will Sherlock & Watson save her before the blood moon rises?
CHARACTERS:
SHERLOCK HOLMES –-- playing age of 30+ (Detective)
DR. WATSON–-- playing age of 50+ (Holmes' sidekick)
MRS. HUDSON –-- playing age 50+ (Sherlock's housekeeper)
DR. JOHN DEE –-- playing age of 80+ (Ancient Welsh Alchemist)
 
NOTESome of the following roles can double-up, as they are only in one scene.
 
VADOMA –-- open age (Romany Fortune-teller) only a few lines, appears in a few scenes.
 DE MONE ULMI --- open age (Italian astrologer) Speaks only Italian less than 10 lines
THE MONGOLIAN --- open age (Mute Magician) No lines, few grunts
STRUMPET –-- open age (Temptress at Bazaar) No lines
CLERK –-- open age (Yankee typewriter Salesman) 6 lines
PRINTER –-- open age (German printer) 6 lines
HELENA BLAVATSKY –-- open age (Prophetess and writer) 22 lines
COUNT SZECSENYI –-- Playing age 30 + (Hungarian villain) 5 lines
MADAM VERA –-- open age (ageless witch- heroine of tale) 2 lines
MISS MORSTAN –-- playing age 40+ (Watsons intended) no lines

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS 
An audition piece will be given to every auditionee.
It is expected that the auditionee will learn the lines of the audition piece
and present it on 6th April. 
A rehearsal schedule is prepared and will be given on first response to any enquiries made by an auditionee.
It is a clever idea to come to auditions in character, dress/shoes/hair, anything that
you feel is appropriate for the role you are seeking.
 ***Those who are successful in getting a part must be or become a member of
Ruby Productions at an annual cost of $40.***
